Make a difference in your spare time

Our volunteers’ knowledge and expertise are vital in helping us to improve the lives of everyone affected by pituitary conditions. We support, engage, and encourage our volunteers; doing our best to ensure volunteers know how highly valued they are.

What do our volunteers do?

We have a range of different volunteer roles:

  • Helpline Operators provide support and information on our Patient Helpline Monday-Friday. Some do regular shifts and some provide cover when needed.
  • Telephone Buddies give one-to-one peer and emotional support to people who are affected by a pituitary condition.
  • Support group volunteers run our network of support groups, which provide face-to-face support and information to anyone affected by pituitary conditions including their friends and families.
  • Office Volunteers help us with a variety of tasks in the Bristol office.
  • Pituitary Ambassadors support us by spreading awareness about pituitary conditions and helping with fundraising and events.
  • Medical Committee members are health care professionals who participate in conversations when queries arise and are a vital support to our support services team.
  • Our Board of Trustees provide governance and strategic planning for The Foundation.

We advertise volunteering roles on our vacancies page. If you have a specific skill you think would benefit us, please let us know and we’ll see if this is something we can incorporate.

“I find running the group very rewarding. I don’t think I have been to one gathering when I haven’t learnt something new.”

Annie – Support Group Volunteer

“I have a regular 3 hour weekly slot on the helpline. I enjoy doing this and it is encouraging when you have been able to help the caller.”

Who are our volunteers?

Our volunteers have a range of experiences: some have had a pituitary disease diagnosis, some have supported a friend or family member, others have professional or personal skills that can support our activities.

Anyone can volunteer for us, as long as you are over 18. Training will always be provided. Many of our volunteer roles can be undertaken in your own home and office-based roles are always in our Bristol office.

We can be flexible on the amount of time you can share with us – different roles will have different requirements on this.

How do I get involved?
