Celebrity ambassador - The Overtones' Mike Crawshaw
The Pituitary Foundation is delighted to introduce Mike Crawshaw as the charity's celebrity Fundraising Ambassador. Heartthrob Mike, as many of you will know, is part of leading vocal harmony group “The Overtones”.
Mike was introduced to the charity in 2013 when he took part in the zip slide event that The Foundation organised at Chepstow. A challenge event that Mike actually took part in all in support of family friends Kelly Park and Ian Andrews whose young daughter Isabella was born with a non functioning pituitary gland.
Mike joined 40 others one beautiful Sunday morning in taking on the zip slide, an event which saw over £6,000 raised for The Foundation in the process. However Mike, like many, did not know exactly how complex a pituitary condition can be. Following his participation in the zip slide Mike engrossed himself in finding out as much as he could about the condition and indeed our organisation.
Mike is thrilled to be involved and cannot wait to help our charity raise much needed awareness. Mike says: “What a wonderful day it was for an amazing charity. I'm so happy I was able to help in some small way and to help spread the word about The Pituitary Foundation and the great work it does.”
Mike continued “Since the zip wire day I've read up on pituitary conditions and how they can affect people's lives. I think the work that The Pituitary Foundation do is great and I am honoured to be an ambassador. With the bands hectic schedule it will often be difficult for me to commit to a great deal of time, but I will do all I can and as much as The Foundation would like me to do when I am around.”
The band have already been helping in terms of raising awareness of the charity as they have a number of fan clubs around the world as and in fact a number of The Overtones fans, or “Toners” as they are affectionately known, have already committed to taking part in a series of runs across the country on behalf of The Foundation.
We are sure that you will all join us in welcoming Mike to The Foundation!
