Last week one of our volunteers attended the SIMBA Adrenal event in Birmingham no our behalf. This event brings together medical students, junior doctors, specialists interested in endocrinology and individuals affected by adrenal conditions.
Caz Brown, who volunteers in our Cushing’s support group, attended the event and gave a talk on The Pituitary Foundation and the services that we offer to people affected by pituitary conditions. She says: “It was very interesting from my perspective and there were a lot of ‘big’ names in endocrinology there, not just from the UK either. We had a Parisian endo and a Serbian endo, plus students from quite a few different countries.”
She even spoke to some endocrinologists after the event, who are keen to engage more with the foundation! Hopefully Caz’s talk will encourage more endocrinologists to share our support services with their patients.
Caz’s visit is part of our wider work to engage with more medical professionals. This will help to ensure that everyone affected by pituitary conditions knows about the pituitary foundation and can access our support services. As part of our 30th Anniversary celebrations we are making it our mission to visit as many pituitary clinics as possible this year to engage with medical professionals. Thanks to volunteers like Caz we can continue to raise awareness!
