Oxford Fundraising Group
Our Oxford Fundraising Ambassador who coordinates the Oxford Fundraising Group is prolactinoma patient, Jessica Buck.
This is Jessica's story:
"As a pituitary sufferer myself, I understand first hand how difficult it might be for someone to come to terns with their prolactinoma diagnosis and feel that I can reach out and lend a helping hand to those in need of some support whilst they’re adjusting and coming to terms with their condition. I feel I can really make a difference to people being diagnosed as I can offer my own personal experiences and I just want to be able to help those going through the same feelings and emotions that I went through when I was diagnosed six years ago.
I would love to make a difference to people who have been recently diagnosed and just want to show that, despite suffering from a serious condition, you can still live your life and achieve your goals. I want to offer comfort for those unsure how to feel normal after their diagnosis and also want to fundraise as much money as possible so that the work carried out by the foundation can continue for many years to come. I’d also like to raise awareness for the charity, and the condition, in the hope that people have a better understanding of what it’s like to live with this illness. If I had someone to turn to when I was first diagnosed I know I would've coped with it much better during the first confusing few months!"
Jessica has already taken part in several fundraising events raising several hundred pounds in the process and she intends tuning her hometown of Witney Orange for Pituitary Awareness Month.
