Golf Day for Isabella 2018
Isabella Andrews is a young Bristol child who was born with a non functioning pituitary gland. Her family were called overanxious first time parents. Her mum Kelly with the help of the family created a fund so that they can help others who are in the same situation. The family have organised a host of fundraising activities, one annual event being the Isabella Andrews Golf Day.
Mum, Kelly, tells us the story: "From birth Isabella never fed or slept very well which health professionals put down to general ailments. They told me I was an over anxious first time Mum. One day after being told once again she was fine, she became very ill. Her body went floppy, her eyes were rolling and she went blue. She was rushed to hospital where staff battled to save her life. She was treated in intensive care for a week but continued to stop breathing. An MRI scan revealed a non functioning pituitary gland. Her little body had a minor water infection, but was unable to cope due to lacking the all important hormones. General childhood ailments are potentially life threatening for Isabella. The Pituitary Foundation helped us immensely as a family, from the Helpline and publications to the Local Support Group. We wanted to do something as a family to help others who had been in our situation"
Over the past few years, Isabella's family have managed to raise over £20,000 for The Foundation through multiple activities, including walks, runs, cycles, craft sales, zipwire challenges, and football games.
