Research Opportunity: Growth Hormone

Acumen Healthcare are currently looking to recruit adolescents (10-17yrs old) who have been diagnosed with a growth hormone condition to participate in a short study that aims to assess the usability of an injection device.

Example conditions:

Growth disturbance associated with Turner syndrome (TS)

Growth disturbance in short children born small for gestational age (SGA)

Growth disturbance associated with chronic renal insufficiency (CRI, EU indication for use)

Growth disturbance associated with growth hormone deficiency (GHD) insufficient secretion of growth hormone

Growth disturbance associated with Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS)

Growth disturbance due to idiopathic short stature (ISS, US indication for use)

We are looking to speak to those who currently use an injection device to administer medication and those who don’t administer their medication via an injection

During the sessions, participants will be required to simulate the use of prototype injection device, answer some questions on the use of this injection device, and to provide subjective feedback.

The injection devices will be filled with placebo and participants will be asked to handle needles during the study. Please note that participants will not be required to inject themselves or anyone else during the interview. The study focuses primarily of the usability of the injection device. Safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 will be followed throughout the interview, including adhering to government guidance.

All participants aged under 18 will be required to attend the interview with a parent or legal guardian who may assist in some of the activities during the session.

We are looking to invite them and their guardian to a 75-minute face to face session in either London (WC2R The Strand) on Saturday 22nd or Sunday 23rd August or Stockport (SK2) on Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th August and they will receive £100 as a thank you for attending paid via electronic bank transfer.

If you or your child are interested in taking part you can apply here and answer the screening questions. For more info email or call 0161 242 5215 and ask to speak to Alan or Jordan
