Research Opportunity: Pituitary Surgery Study

Dr John G Hanrahan, Professor Stephanie Baldeweg & Mr Hani Marcus are inviting you to take part in a study conducted at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.

The study is aiming to produce a map of the patient pathway of someone who had surgery (within the past three years) to treat a tumour in the pituitary gland. They want to capture the steps you experienced when you were admitted to the hospital.

The reason for this study is to identify key events in the pathway, allowing them to identify where they can improve how they enter and store your data in their electronic medical record systems.

The team have produced a diagram which provides a general overview of the patient pathway for patients undergoing surgery for a pituitary tumour (like yourself!).

They would like you to review the patient pathway, drawing on your personal experience to see whether it fits with what you experienced.

You are welcome to draw on the process maps any additional steps or comments you may want to pass on to the research team.

There is also a short questionnaire to complete to assess the accuracy of the patient pathway model.

If you are interested in participating, please email Dr John Hanrahan at
